My west elm catalogue came in the mail yesterday and I immediately fell in love with many of the pieces within the pages... I like the fresh, clean, and simple lines of the furniture and the way the rooms were put together for the catalogue spreads. Each room has a relaxing color palette with either very dark or white furniture, complimented by neutral textiles in grays, browns, and taupe, with a final pop of color in a chair, pillow, or accent piece.
One of the more textural decorative items that caught my eye were these Lattice Spheres.
The way the spheres are placed within the empty fireplace in the room pictured below is a great detail. Notice how the spheres pick up on the texture of the side table next to the couch as well as some of the throw pillows. The subtle yellow accents throughout the room add just enough color and punch to make the room feel cozy and happy without being overpowering.
Another fabulous use for these lattice spheres is as a decorative item on a wall-mounted shelf or ledge. The spine shelf pictured below is a particularly interesting way of displaying accents in the home and would look great in almost any room. The use of the lattice sphere on the bottom of the shelf helps breakup what would otherwise be a very monochromatic and inorganic display.

For those of us who would not call themselves green thumbs (myself included), these lattice spheres offer the look of a more organic and plant-like material to the decor of a space without being fake. They look great clustered or singularly as pictured above and could help tie together other more textural pieces within a room.
they sort of look like big balls of rubber bands. ummm... i die for the zebra inspired rug.
